normal for 2.4ghz to be much slower than 5ghz wifi?

i am standing next to my Deco x20 mesh box that's connected directly to my Verizon modem.

i get about 20mbps on 2.4ghz wifi. is that normal??? i get at least 80mbps when i was using a Netgear Nighthawk (not mesh).

    Something to ask the mfr of your router system about. This is a Netgear forum. 

     

    Generally, 2.4Ghz is always slower than 5Ghz on any wifi router.
