Not seeing gig download speeds on Nighthawk R6350 router. Help??
I recently got gigbit fiber service in my home, upload and download. I've run speed tests from multiple devices (iphone, wireless card on PC, Chromebook) connected via wifi and am not seeing anywhere close to 1000mbps, which is expected I suppose because of the old hardware. I've even plugged directly into the ONT and router and again don't see these speeds, probably because of an older NIC. My question is why am I not seeing these speeds when I run the speedtest in the Nighthawk app? Router is only geting around 400mbps down, but it seeing over 900mbps up.
Any suggestions??

The app is not a reliable speed test software. You better use Web-based speed test sites to measure your speeds. Recommended is also to use your fastest device, whether wired or wireless.
Also keep in mind that anything that needs to inspect packets first, will lower your speed. This includes QoS, Traffic Meter, Parental Control, etc. Also, your router is a pretty basic one so it may have issues hitting Gbps speeds

for thr most part, I probably dont have any devices that will reach gig speed I guess. It's probably overkill for what we do, but I got it to be future proof because the price was locked in. May just go down to 250/250 - that will be more than enough for our streaming services on mutiple devices at the same time
