Hello all - found the souce of the issue. The cable modem had a wifi network built into it that I had set up a long time ago, before I got the new router. That is the source of the networks that we don't want active. I have been able to disable that fuction on the modem while keeping my Netgear router active. Thank you very much for the time and ideas that helped us figure it out. Thanks!

Try installing WiFi Analyzer or the Netgear WiFi Analytics app on the android phone. Both can scan and show you the networks that still exist.
If the old networks show up on those scans, then we'll need to find out where the transmitters are.

Good morning - I have the wifi analyzer installed on my phone and did get a good signal read on both the Russell3092 and Russell309_EXT network names that are not supposed to be there. Regarding the transmitter, what are the suggested next steps? As I mentioned before, the old rounter and the old extender are not plugged in or powered on so what could be sending out that signal if not them? Appreciate the help on this very much!

You can power off the new router, and then confirm that the signals are still present. That's mostly for peace-of-mind.
I'd power off your modem next, and do the same check. Many can act as gateways (modem+wifi routers), and it is conceivable that it was configured sometime in the past. The modem (if you have one) is connected to the router's internet port. If you post the modem's model number, we can also google it here.
If it isn't the modem, then turn the modem and router back on. The analyzer does report signal strength, and if you monitor that you might be able to zero on the room that the device(s) are in. It would be a bit like hide and seek (or maybe marco polo)
