Required Security Firmware Update
Hi ,
NETGEAR strongly recommends that you update to the latest firmware version for your as soon as possible.
A Firmware update was released on that addresses security vulnerabilities, however your has not been automatically updated and is running a firmware version earlier than .
Please follow these instructions to update your product to the latest firmware version using the Nighthawk app:
  1. Connect your mobile device to your router’s WiFi network.
  2. Launch the Nighthawk app.
  3. Enter the router admin user name and password.
    The default user name is admin.
    The password is the one you specified the first time you logged in.
    The user name and password are case-sensitive.

  4. Once in the app, tap the image of your router.
  5. On the Router Settings page, scroll down and tap Check For Updates.
  6. If new firmware is available, tap UPDATE.
  7. After you tap UPDATE , do not try to go online, turn off the router, or do anything else online until the router finishes restarting. The firmware update process can take a few minutes.

The file that will need to be uploaded is: Firmware Version 1.0.12.216 Download. . This file is for the R7000 if you have another model please check out the support site here. Then type in your router model to get the latest firmware. Once you click, the file will automatically download. Tip: Note the downloaded file location.
