How, exactly, are you _connected_ "to the office"?

    > [...] and was told port 443 UDP & TCP need to open.

       "told" by whom?

Port 443 is normally used for HTTPS, that is, by a web browser making
a secure connection to a web site.  If you can do normal web browsing,
then I doubt that anything is interfering with outbound connections
    using that port.

I know exactly nothing about what you're doing, but it also seems
unlikely that you're doing anything involving incoming connections on
that port, or that anything involving the router settings which might
interfere with that port would be intermittent.

I'd call that a lucky break.

       Firmware version?  Connected to what?

  • It appears that someone at your office would like for you to open a hole "so to speak in your router's firewall"

Firewalls are protection layers at the source of your interenet in your router.

Other software Firewall aree and can be installed on you computer.

They help in keeping bad actors from getting into your network.

They (your office IT) may have open this hole on their end.

This allows them to keep up their firewall protection except for a selected window/hole to allow tracfic through.

I would definetly talk to your IT support team about and confirm this.

This  used also for certain games that are played on the internet and some services like DirecTv use this feature.

Opeing up a firewall can difinitely be risky business!!

You do so at your own risk

Make sure you can trust to whom you open up your firewall to.

Make sure to delete this service when you are done neeeding this openning.

How ever if you must make and openning, to do your work from home.

Here's where you will need to go in your router setup

      Again Let me be clear.

Opening your router's Firewall can open you up to network attacks and can put you and your family at risk!

If you think this is meant to shake you up.....It is!

Just know who you are opening up to.
