Problem with r7800 and firmware V1.0.2.92
"Hi, I have the R7800 with firmware version V1.0.2.92. Lately, the router has been freezing, and I have to restart it. I have it behind my provider's router, but that one works fine. I notice that when it freezes, there’s usually a report of [DoS Attack: RST Scan]. After several restarts, I downgraded to firmware V1.0.2.90 to see if it was a firmware issue. Does anyone know anything about this?

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.

Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point (AP) with a wired connection to the main router. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit. How do I change my NETGEAR router to AP mode? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Does anyone know anything about this?Netgear's firmware is great at creating false reports of DoS attacks. Many of them are no such thing.
Search - NETGEAR Communities – DoS attacks
Use Whois.net to see who is behind some of them and you may find that they are from places like Facebook, Google, even your ISP.
Here is a useful tool for that task:
IPNetInfo: Retrieve IP Address Information from WHOIS servers
If these events are slowing down your router, that may be because it is using up processor time as it writes the events to your logs. Anything that uses processor power – event logging, QoS management, traffic metering – may cause slowdowns. Disable logging of DoS attacks and see if that reduces the problem. This does not prevent the router from protecting you from the outside world.

Thanks for the response.
I have the operator's router set to bridge mode so that it doesn't handle any of the internet traffic, and I prefer the Netgear to manage everything. I'll try what you suggested about disabling logging of DoS attacks.

The R7800 is on the official Netgear End of Service (EoS) list.

You might want to consider Voxel’s firmware as an alternative.
Be sure and review the README file linked in the upper right hand corner of the page.
