When I just have my Netgear router plugged in I have never had anything over 95mbps download. Any ideas on how to adjust the Netgear router to get faster speeds?

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the manual and the bit Router specifications.

Looks like this issue is pretty common, why is Netgear putting 300-700Mbps on the box.
Yes, pretty outrageous when Netgear sells a device that comes up to the specifications. The puzzle is that it still made these 100BASE-T things in 2017 when just about every other devices had 1000BASE-T. Maybe they had a bin of old chips to use up.
The bit on the box is marketing speak that applies to the wifi speed between the router and wifi clients. (More accurately, it is about the wifi standards that the chips are supposed to follow.) It has not much to do with your Internet speeds with those wifi clients.
Your R6080 is not designed for the Internet service you pay for. Time to replace it with something more capable.
