R6400 SMB version

I just set up ReadyShare on my R6400 with a 2.5" USB 3.0 hard drive mapped to my Laptop running Windows 10 and it seems to be working. Reading several posts on the SMB version that is standard on several NetGear Wi-Fi routers, I get the idea that many NetGear routers ship with SMB 1.x. which seem so have (or had) vulnerabilities, from what I've read on this forum.

My R6400 firmware as of today is V1.0.1.76_1.0.48. I checked using PowerShell, and the SMB version running on the laptop is 3.1.1. I did not make any changes to Windows 10 regarding information from forum posts that said SMB 1.x is required for discovery to work to recognize the mapped USB drive.

The application I have is a file server using ReadyShare, primarily for one single Windows 10. I'm testing this configuration replace an existing Ubuntu file server. My other PCs will continue to use an updated version of the Ubuntu file server in the longer term, as I have been changing out my Ethernet to CAT6 shielded.

Web searches have not provided any reference to the SMB version on the R6400.

Are there any issues with what I have?

Should not be. If the configuration is working as is and you didn't have to enable SMB v1 support in windows, then use it as is.

NG like other router mfrs will problably not update SMB on older model routers as it's costly for updating and development. I ran into same issue with my NAS that are now going on about 10 years old. SMB v1 and I had to enable that in Windows 10. I don't have a problem with that nor have I seen issues with using it. Though I only use NAS on the LAN side and WAN side has ZERO access.
