"R6400v2" is what's on the product label?

A "flasing power light" is one thing. A "startup loop" is something
else. What are the LEDs doing?

I'd stick with the Windows command-line program. Less guesswork that
way about what "all the suggested flashing methods" might mean to you.

Actual file name? Actual "tftp" command? Copy+paste is your friend.

If the "tftp" program completes successfully, then I doubt that
timing is the problem.

Thanks for your reply. I have seen all your comments in many other threads and followed everything you had to say and many other.
- AC1750 Model R6400v2
- on power on it runs through all the lights, basically the all come on and then turn off, and then the power light comes on solid for about 10 seconds and then it flashes, thats it. if i plug a computer in i get white light of the port it is plugged into.
- windows TFTP is exactly as the Netgear says to do it and it successfully uploads. tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put R6400v2-V1.0.4.98_10.0.71.chk
- You had mention in another thread that if it did not take you may have to try again and experiment to catch it at the right time.
when trying to follow the directions of the reset right before the put command i can hold the rest down for 10 seconds power it up and continue to hold reset but then it will just continue to go in to resetting it does not come back to a flashing light like it says it should do 10 times before letting off reset.

You are a saint. on this particular model you do not use the LAN port as tated ant the unit has to be on not off when you initiate the command. also it was def a timming thing. i tried several times and onece it took and loaded it. thank you so much for your help. this makes me so happy i was dreading having to buy another when this has been working so well.

Good news is good news.

anything more complex again (as it did when power was first applied),
then it's not in a "boot loop".> if i plug a computer in i get white light of the port it is plugged

That looks right (for an R6400v2). 46358586 bytes.

Thanks for the helpful link. I'd be likely to say that if the
problem description had a different time dependence. If you have a
simple flashing power light, so that "ping 192.168.1.1" always works,
and the "tftp" command always works, then I (still) doubt that timing
is the problem.> when trying to follow the directions of the reset [...]
My experience with this stuff is slight, and reports here differ. I
might skip the intricate Reset pressing and holding, and see what
happens after a simple power-on.- Eliot1l1tAug 27, 2020Tutor
yeah i have tried every power and rest combination you can think of including doing them togehter, seperate, wall power, power button. wait 1 minute, do it imediatly. i have tried every combination i can think of. i am trying nmprflash now but hitting an issue there too.
