R6700v2 Bridged Mode - internet becomes very slow on all network devices
Please excuse my ignorance - I am having a problem with my home network and I am not very network-lingo-savvy. My desktop is connected directly by ethernet cable to a Nighthawk R6700v2 (firmware ...

This is a WiFi bridge? I ask because the bridge term means different things in different contexts.
Remember, a WiFi bridge isn't going to be that fast. But 2 Mbps isn't that good.
Then there is the complication of the Bell Home 3000. Not all modem/routers play nicely with bridged links.
This bit is odd:
...the bridge mode setup seems to have slowed down the internet speed for all devices connected wirelessly to the network. The connection speed for the other devices returns to normal when I turn off the router.
So all is well when the R6700v2 is off?
I'd be tempted to try Powerline Ethernet as an alternative.

Thanks for your reply. I have set it up as a Wi-fi bridge, so the Nighthawk router connects to my modem over wifi.
It is quite weird and immediately noticeable that everything goes back to normal when the router is turned off.
I was wondering if the Bell Modem does not "like" having a router connected via bridge mode...

What channels are you using on the ISP Modem?
What is the distance between the modem and the wireless bridged R6700?
Does the modem support Smart Connect or do you have separate SSID names for 2.4 and 5Ghz?
Did you set the R6700 router to connect to 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? 5Ghz would be recommended as it supports faster speeds.
- plshlpmyrouterFeb 13, 2023AspirantInitially all the settings were set to automatic (auto channel selection, same SSID and key for both 2.4/5 Ghz networks.) I turned off some of the automatic settings. I used the Wifi Analyzer app on my phone and it suggested I choose channel 3 for the 2.4Ghz band and one of the high channels for the 5 Ghz band. For some reason the modem will only allow me to select channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 in the 5Ghz network - and my app says the signal for all of these bands is terrible...
So I have set as follows:
For the 2.4Ghz band I selected channel 3 and left 5Ghz to Auto.
The distance between the modem and router is about 50 feet... The signal is going up 1 floor and across a few rooms.
I can choose either band for the router, but I got no signal with 5 Ghz and lost my connection all together.
Hope this answer your questions.

So lets try 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz. 3 and all other channels are used by the system.
50 feet would be a bit too far especially if there is building materials in between. Try 25-30 feet. Then try and see if you can get 5Ghz to connect.
