R6700v2 Bridged Mode - internet becomes very slow on all network devices
Please excuse my ignorance - I am having a problem with my home network and I am not very network-lingo-savvy. My desktop is connected directly by ethernet cable to a Nighthawk R6700v2 (firmware ...

Initially all the settings were set to automatic (auto channel selection, same SSID and key for both 2.4/5 Ghz networks.) I turned off some of the automatic settings. I used the Wifi Analyzer app on my phone and it suggested I choose channel 3 for the 2.4Ghz band and one of the high channels for the 5 Ghz band. For some reason the modem will only allow me to select channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 in the 5Ghz network - and my app says the signal for all of these bands is terrible...
So I have set as follows:
For the 2.4Ghz band I selected channel 3 and left 5Ghz to Auto.
The distance between the modem and router is about 50 feet... The signal is going up 1 floor and across a few rooms.
I can choose either band for the router, but I got no signal with 5 Ghz and lost my connection all together.
Hope this answer your questions.
Thanks!!

Thanks. I tried changing the channel but no luck with the router. Unfortunately I can't move it closer because I have to keep my desktop where it is.
Does it seem like a need a mesh system at this point?

Something to try out.
No chance of getting a longer LAN cable between the PC and the router and them move the router closer?
