Any suggestion how to get that thing into a fully working state again?
It is a pain, but a reset is the first thing to try after an update has wrecked your router.
How do I perform a factory reset on my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

And... with bad luck I have a R6700v3 that doesn't do anything anymore... I guess?

No need to jump to conclusions and borrow trouble.....
After a firmware default reset or maybe two, you should be able to configure your router from scratch.
If not, there are ways to upload firmware to the router. See below.

Thanks to you, too. I tried the Mac guide earlier today and it did not do anything.
My devices PowerLED doesn't flash at all, so I tried different times, when it lights up after powering the device.... I am not sure if the 192.168.0.10 is supposed to be an example or if the router actually picks this IP during the boot phase...
Kind regards,
Sascha

Who knows. Dig deeper?
Take this:
The error I get is: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSEA quick search suggests that this is not a Netgear issue.
ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE - Google Search
More locally:
Search - NETGEAR Communities – ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
More of a network issue.
Did you try either of those?
