R700 wi-fi not connecting.

After power outage, can not get WI-FI in
house on smartphones. Keeps trying to connect
then says cant obtain IP address. Tried reboots,
WPS, and various ways of connecting router and modem.

  • Is it just the phones that can't obtain an IP address.  Try powering the phone off to see if will get an IP address when you power it back up.

What are we talking about here? The R700 in your subject doesn't exist (R7000 or R7000P?) and the A7000 listed in your footer is a USB wifi device and not a router.

As this is a router, there is probably a modem sitting in front of it. Power cuts usually take out both the modem and the router on a network. When the power comes back on, they may start up in the wrong order, with the router starting before the modem is ready. That means that they get confused about which is in charge.

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    • Turn off and unplug modem.
    • Turn off router and computers.
    • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.
