R7000 2.4 GHz performance hit
Recently updated to the latest R7000 firmware V1.0.12.216_10.2.122. Around the same time (don't remember if it exactly coincided with the update) my 2.4GHs speeds have tanked. I'm only getting abou...

In a lab under IDEAL conditions, the R7000 just barely hit over 100mbps at close range (see the attenuation plot). Thats under ideal conditions and close range. Once range starts increasing, its quite a bit below that 100mbps. Again, not sure how you were testing, but I'm doubtful you were much more than 100mbps. If you're getting 100mpbs on an 12 year old device, I'd be pretty happy.

There's always that old confusion over connection speed and throughput speed.

"There was a reason why I asked why you had four routers."
Sorry, I didn't see that. I have two routers at my main home - one in router mode, and a second connected with ethernet Cat 5e cable as an access point (no double NAT). The other two are at different houses.

Thanks Plemans, I hadn't see that review. All I can say is that Netgear questioned their findings and I certainly have had more than 100mbps in the past.
Having said that it appears, for what ever reason, I'm only going to get 100mbps for the foreseeable future.
Thanks again, all.

Aha. That makes sense.
It always helps to have full details when troubleshooting. It can rule out many possible issues.
