Good news! We now have a production version of firmware that should resolve the 2.4 GHz issue, v1.0.5.64. You may download this firmware from our R7000 page here: http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/R7000#searchResults
As IrvSp correctly notes, this version of firmware fixes the 2.4 GHz issue and reinstates the new features, such as Kwilt, Smart Connect, and WiFI Transmit Power Control. It does not support Arlo. We hope to have a beta version that supports Arlo in the next two weeks.
We welcome any feedback you provide on this new firmware, and appreciate your patience as we resolved these issues. Thank you all for supporting the R7000 and NETGEAR!

I'm having the same problem. It has been working like a champ for a couple of years and suddenly yesterday it started dropping wireless connections and losing connection with my ISP. I tried the factory reset that was suggested in another reply and then restored the settings. Now everything but the primary 2.4 GHz network is working OK. The guest 2.4 GHz network seems to be fine, so it's not an all or nothing thing for 2.4 GHz for me.. None of the devices I have can authenticate with that primary network anymore. My devices either tell me they can't connect or they tell me the password is incorrect. I tried changing the name and the password for that network but that didn't help. Anybody else seeing this variation of the problem or have any other ideas?

I'm glad to find I'm not the only one with this variation of problem. I thought it was weird that the gues 2.4 ghz works but the the primary one does not. Everything can see the primary 2.4 ghz, but nothing connects to it. The 5 ghz works fine, but not all of our devices are capable of connecting to the 5 ghz. Other than that, I seem to be limited to only 8 wireless devices. I'm still trying to find a way around that one.

Edit - OK appear to have fixed it, I have something call Negear Arlo (wtf that is) anyway I disabled it & its working again
Another affected user here, upgraded firmware yesterday, now nothing can connect to the 2,4 Iphone, Andriod phones & tablets & windows PC.
Come on Netgear admit you have a problem please & issue a fix

I'm going to partially answer my own question. The factory reset worked to solve some of the problem. I found on another forum that if you do a major update in the firmware, you should do a complete factory reset and enter in all the settings again. This took care of most of the problems. I can now connect to all of the wireless (the 2.4 GHz Primary/Guest and the 5GHz Primary/Guest). However, I'm still having a problem with the number of devices that can connect. Although the settings now show when more than 8 devices are connected, I still have a problem periodically when devices cannot connect to the wireless. I will be asked to enter in the network password, but it won't connect...on any of the wifi accesses or on some, but not others. kinda weird.
Anyway, factory reset and re-enter all the settings (manually, not from a backup) fixed a lot.
