Good news! We now have a production version of firmware that should resolve the 2.4 GHz issue, v1.0.5.64. You may download this firmware from our R7000 page here: http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/R7000#searchResults
As IrvSp correctly notes, this version of firmware fixes the 2.4 GHz issue and reinstates the new features, such as Kwilt, Smart Connect, and WiFI Transmit Power Control. It does not support Arlo. We hope to have a beta version that supports Arlo in the next two weeks.
We welcome any feedback you provide on this new firmware, and appreciate your patience as we resolved these issues. Thank you all for supporting the R7000 and NETGEAR!

I am very sorry that the link I provided previously didn't work. To resolve the download difficult py, we moved the firmware from our website into Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gff35js08j6nzof/R7000-V1.0.6.40_1.1.90.chk?dl=0
Please let me know if you can't access the firmware at this link.
We had hoped to provide production firmware yesterday, but have delayed for another week. The release candidate, which is the same firmware in Dropbox, has successfully passed our QA tests. However, our software engineers have asked for a few more days of testing.
The feedback has been positive from those of you who have kindly tested. But we have difficulty repeatedly inducing this problem in our lab, so it's hard to confirm that this fix will resolve all the issues you've experienced.
We feel badly that we inconvenienced everyone with the previous version of firmware, so we want to take a little more time to confirm that this latest firmware truly fixes the problem. I apologize for the delay.
Thank you again for your patience and your invaluable feedback and help resolving this issue.

Nifer,
I just downloaded and installed the firmware from the dropbox link that you supplied - and - 2.4GHz wireless now appears to be working again!! I did not do a factory reset but will if it seems to be needed.
Security fixes are super important these days and I commend Netgear for keeping our firmware up to date (I hope). Netgear is not the cheapest router - customers should expect several years of good performance and up-to-date security patches. The 90 day Netgear support is pretty unfriedly - perhaps there should be an option for support when important features of the router fail after installing a firmware update.
I really appreciate your help,

using 1.0.6.40 now and all seems well, then again I had no issues with 1.0.6.28. The GUI is faster in this version though, I wish you would set Arlo to opt in, rather than have it opt out. Many peopole wont use Arlo so that should not be enabled by default. So far so good though.

In this new firmware '1.0.6.40' under QOS WMM for 5Ghz it says says (5Ghz 802.11a/n) it used to say in previous revisons it said (5Ghz 802.11a/n/ac) has wmm been removed for 802.11ac or is it a typo in the firmware?

The beta firmware 1.0.6.40 works on my router. 2.4/5 works after upgrade/reboots including wireless cams and wireless repeater. I did not do any reset and no issues/disconnects encountered so far. Running for 3 days now.
I just disabled ARLO today since I am not using it. It is on by default.

Will moving to either the beta or back to the older firmware correct the slow WiFi issues?
- KillhippieFeb 27, 2016Prodigy
What slow wifi issue, I'm not seeing one. What firmware are you on now? Have you done a full hard reset and resinstalled your settings yourself, not by a save file?

Is this new official firmware ever going to arrive, this extra week is turning out to be a little longer. To be blunt this is getting pretty pathetic now. What is the delay and why cant you sort this issue out? Netgear is not a name I'm recommending any more. Oh and IPV6 please, make it work... Asus have for years... stop adding features we dont need and make the basics work.

Hi, it has been about a month since this post. When will 1.0.6.40 be released to the public? Thx
- J_GonzalezMar 18, 2016Tutor
The beta release was v1.1.10.167514, so I imagine any general release that comes out next will be 1.1.x.x
As an update, it's been 2 weeks since I went back to 1.0.4.28_1.1.64, and so far no problems. With the other versions, the problem would appear after 3 or 4 days. So looking good so far.
As I mentioned before, the one thing I did do different this time was to do a hard reset of the router after i updated the firmware, then reconfigure. When I tried the other versions, including the beta version, I wasn't able to reset the router. So I don't know if all the other firmware versions were still buggy, or if a hard reset was required.
if I had the time, I would install the beta firmware then do a hard reset and see if that's stable.

I am using firmware version V1.0.5.48_1.1.79 and not having any problems with that. It has been over 3 weeks since I rolled back to this version.
