You can add the domain name instead of just a key word which may be better: http://www.youtube.com https://www.youtube.com
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R7000/R7000_UM_26Feb2015.pdf ~~ Page 63. Not sure if it will pick up going to youtube via facebook..
You could also try the app, to see if it works. It's not OPENDNS: ~~ http://www.netgear.com/lpc

Hi netwrks,
no such luck.
I have tried:
- youtube.com
- www.youtube.com
- http://www.youtube + https://www.youtube.com
nothing blocked my getting to youtube by https://www.youtube.com
http://www.youtube.com is always blocked by either youtube OR youtube.com OR www.youtube.com OR http://www.youtube.com (only 1 required)

Hi AndeeB,
Blocking sites using the block site feature of the router will only block websites with HTTP protocol and will not be able to block when it is being access using HTTPs protocol. I would suggest to configure LPC feature of the router. For more information regarding LPC, please check the links below:

Thanks JamesGL.
I had already created a OpenDNS account for parental controls. But wasn't using it.
I have now setup a custom 'block' for set hours, blocking among other things - video sharing.
This does appear to work however haven't fully tested.
On my mobile running chrome, it came up saying something about my connection wasn't secure.
While on my laptop running chrome, I have seen a page come up with OpenDNS logo saying essentially the site I was trying to get to is blocked.
On a side note, I have noted that my router has DNS settings - I am guessing for OpenDNS but my clients DNS still show it is pointing to the router 192.168.1.1. Is this correct?
Thanks.
