R7000 Bricked After Update
Hi Guys,
My R7000 is now bricked after trying to update the firmware, I think I had an issue where it lost power during the update.
It is now at a point where the power light is sitting as a solid amber light.
I have tried the following things:
- Use a TFTP client as per the instructions in here: https://kb.netgear.com/000059633/How-do-I-upload-firmware-to-my-NETGEAR-router-using-a-TFTP-client-on-Microsoft-Windows?article=000059633
- Use windows TFTP as per instructions in here: https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-do-I-upload-firmware-to-my-NETGEAR-router-using-TFTP-from-the-Microsoft-Windows-Command-Prompt?article=000059634
- Tried resetting the router by holding the reset button for varying amounts of time, switching it off and on again while holding reset etc. It generally lights up then the power light goes straight to solid amber (rather than blinking amber as per the instructions above).
Everytime I try to use the client, I just get a block 0# error then it does nothing, and if I try to use windows it comes up that it cannot communicate. I have set my static IP properly for the ethernet port and are connecting into the LAN ports on the router.
I am doing ok with my ISP router for the time being but would rather get back to using the router I bought.
If anyone has any further guidance they could give to get it to communicate with my computer it would be appreciated. If it is a lost cause then so be it, i've had it for a good number of years anyway.
Thanks
Liam

Have you tried nmrpflash?

Hi Plemans
I have tried te nmrpflash just there. It gets to a point where it tries to upload the chk file however, I then get a message saying that "an existing connection was forcible closed by the remote host" following which it exits.
The difference between my situation and the instructions in the TFTP is that when I reset or switch on/off the router, the amber light on the router just stays solid as opposed to flashing. I've tried all reset methods and it doesn't seem to help.
Thanks
Liam

Need to press the reset button for 30 seconds then release, then it send to PUT the command and upload the FW.
Make sure you enable tftp: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
Video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done:
