R7000 Bridge mode not assigning IP after restart

I was getting 50down/250up and Asus support had no idea why. With the r7000 as a bridge I get 470/420.
The network card is an Asus PCI AXE59BT, wifi 6e capable and everything, and worked fine when I used the r7000 as a router but with the new router I consistently got these asymmetric speeds, even though the router itself registered a full 500down/500up.
My pc has been off for an hour now and the r7000 is still being listed as connected by the Asus router, which is what I want. But I'll keep an eye on if it disconnects later.
(As an aside, the wifi card works completely fine in my son's pc on the same drivers and connected to the same router...)

What modem/ONT/gateway sits between the Asus and the Internet?

- It's the one provided by the company that installed the fibre, can't see exactly what it is on it. (For reference, it looks like this: https://support.openinfra.com/sv-SE/support/solutions/articles/77000080500-kom-igang-med-bredband-inteno-fiberbox). Again, no problems with this and these are installed all over Sweden, but being thorough is definitely a good thing.
I am also aware the r7000 might be behaving as expected but waking up and having to restart the connection again seems wrong. For now I have selected "bind to AP" in the Asus settings on the IP of the r7000 in hope that it will keep them linked. Just for clarification, all "routing" is being done by the Asus, which is wirelessly connected to the r7000 as a bridge.
Thanks againI asked about the modem to rule it out as a modem/router. A lot of issue track back to having one of those. Sadly, I am not familiar with that one.
- It's the one bit of the network I haven't touched, so it's fair to say it's working as expected.
