It hasn't occured since I posted, I wondered if it was overheating and doing a soft reset as it was carpet. It is now on a hard surface.
I didn't want ot factory reset as it was a brand new router with new firmware and I hadn't made any changes. It is also not possible for me to directly connect my PC to my modem, they live in different areas of the house.
