R7000 Firmware update
Try to update the firmware the first time, how can i open the .chk file?

You don't open the chk file, you flash it. Go to http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 and in the Advanced settings you can flash it. (Advanced -> Administration -> Firmware Update)

microchip8 is right. you don't open the file. Follow the guide microchip8 wrote or follow the netgear manual update process.
