I think your router has corrupted firmware. I've not had this situation, but this article may help:

Thanks Bill-D
I was not able to use tftp to flash the 130, (power lit never flashes, always solid, and tftp says connection failed or something).
But I am successfully flashed 126 via nmrpflash. After going back to 126 I was able to see the channel selection for 5G, then I upgraded to 130 via web UI, and tried the above step 1,2,3,4 and speed stayed! Thanks, the problem is resolved.

Glad you're back up. Your experience makes me wonder how many other random R7000 problems might be due to corrupted FW. You would expect NG validates the FW after its installed. I'm soooo tired of this R7000. Anybody tuned in here have a suggestion what to replace it with?

I know how you feel. Netgear's software (UI) really sucks but the hardward and the performance just can't be beaten.
I had a TP-Link AC1900 A9, the UI is better, but range and performance is worse than R7000.
I also had an Asus AC-2900 RT86U, performance is worse then Nergear R7800. That is why I'm running R7800 with R7000 now.

Well I've finally made my choice and I've bought a TP-Link AX6600 GX90 to replace my R7000. I'm waiting for it to arrive. Expensive, but now my Wife works permanently from home, I thought I'd try a Tri-band router. I already have a WiFi 6 enabled desktop computer, so I should once I get the new router up and running, be able to at least take advantage of it's compatibility with the new router. I have fibre to the premises straight through an ONT, no copper lines anywhere.
