R7000 firmware version 1.0.6.28 caused a slower wireless connection to the iPhone 6s
R7000 router firmware version 1.0.6.28 caused a much slower connection to my iPhone 6s. Before I downloaded the FW update the internet speed would test at about 180mbps according to the Speedtest app...

The solution to the problem of R7000 firmware version 1.0.6.28 causing a slower internet wirelesss connection to the iPhone 6s is to change the default MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450.
Open the router interface program and choose the Advanced tab, select Setup and then WAN, change the MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450. Click Apply and the router will reboot.

Firmware version 1.0.6.28 is buggy. Flash firmware version 1.0.4.28 or 1.0.4.30 and reset the router using the reset button on the back of the router.

I tried both of the older versions as you suggested. I first pressed the reset button on the back of the router and then loaded 4.30. When there was no improvement, I pressed the reset button and loaded 4.29. That did not help either. I still have my iPhone 5s so I am able to check the speed on both the 6s and the 5s. My Comcast internet wired speed is about 180mbps and previously the speed on the 5s was about 108 and the speed on the 6s was about 180 measured by the Speedtest app. Now the 5s is below 50 and the 6s is around 75. I have rebooted the router both by removing the power cord and by the software reboot but neither gets back to the speeds that I had before loading 6.28.

Hi VIP,
Is it on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz connection?
Have you tried changing channels of your network?
