R7000 firmware version 1.0.6.28 caused a slower wireless connection to the iPhone 6s
R7000 router firmware version 1.0.6.28 caused a much slower connection to my iPhone 6s. Before I downloaded the FW update the internet speed would test at about 180mbps according to the Speedtest app...

The solution to the problem of R7000 firmware version 1.0.6.28 causing a slower internet wirelesss connection to the iPhone 6s is to change the default MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450.
Open the router interface program and choose the Advanced tab, select Setup and then WAN, change the MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450. Click Apply and the router will reboot.

Well, changing the MTU setting only corrected the wireless internet speed problem for a couple of days before the problem occured again which required changing it again to wireless attain the maximum internet speed of 180mps of the ISP's particular plan using the iPhone 6s. This solution is too short term to be of significant value other than a possibility that it may be a clue as to where Netgear needs to look to correct the problem. It looks like the software needs to be promptly patched.

This firmware update killed all of my speed with wired and wifi. Confirmed that my cable modem with Charter is giving me 65 mbs when hard wired directly to it. When connected to the R7000 I now only get 9.5 MBS hard wired and and about 10 mbs over wifi. This is pathetic sense I have no clue how to report my issue directly to Netgear or if they are aware of this sense i dont have customer support anymore. So was your solution to do a factory reset?
Thanks

My solution turned out to not be a solution as I explained in a post above. I was able to get the full speed on my iPhone for several tests which fooled me into thinking that the problem was solved when it wasn't. Netgear suggested version 1.0.5 which I am now using but it has the same or similiar problem and Netgear has withdrawn it along with 1.0.6. Today I ran two wireless tests and one was about 63 Mbps and the other was about 52 rather than the 180 Mbps that I should be getting.
I have tried resets but they did not help.
