The solution to the problem of R7000 firmware version 1.0.6.28 causing a slower internet wirelesss connection to the iPhone 6s is to change the default MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450.
Open the router interface program and choose the Advanced tab, select Setup and then WAN, change the MTU size setting from 1500 to 1450. Click Apply and the router will reboot.

Thanks rpoffen I was wondering about that it would be nice for Netgear to put this in the faqs to distinguish the difference for the layperson. That is a hard reset which brings you back to the original default version correct. And if just all the lights go out its just a reboot which wipes settings but not firmware is that correct. I was confused because I'm only seeing firmware ver. 1.4.30 right now. Not anything more. So to get back to that I would have to reset like you mentioned then flash firmware. Let it reboot and then I should be good to go?
