R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 router repeatedly drops internet connection
Have performed factory reboot, installed latest firmware (1.0.11.126.10.2.112), changed channels, and still drops internet connection several times daily. Router is connected to ISP modem/router Zyxe...

That could be a problem. WAP mode disables some router features.

> point?The SSIDs would still be your choice. WAP2 would still be WAP2, so I
wouldn't expect any difference in wireless security.If you need to use the EMG3415-B10A, then adding the R7000 can't
improve the basic speed. You might see a change in the wireless speed.
Configuring the R7000 as a WAP would make it stupid, thus lightening the
load on its CPU, so an R7000-as-WAP might be faster than an
R7000-as-router.
Had bought the Nighthawk to supplant ISP supplied modem/router but was informed that if I were to use a different router would not receive TV signal. So tried to plug Nghthawk into another ethernet port on ISP ONT, but that didn't work because only one port active on the ONT. So, I piggybacked it off the ISP modem. I suppose that I am stuck with ISP modem. In that case is there any advantage to having a secondary wifi router? I had been using an extender to get adequate signal throughout the condo.

If you get better wireless coverage from the R7000, then that sounds
to me like an advantage. But you might avoid some problems if you
configured the R7000 as a WAP.

If your (unspecified) "an extender" is some other device, and it was
doing what you needed, then there might be little point to adding an
R7000 (in any mode).
