R7000 Nighthawk speed limitations
Paying for a 400MB service (and am able to verify that what's coming out of the modem)- but am not able to get over 100MB download. Searched internet and found others have same problem - reported...

If that truly is your firmware, you're over 20 versions out of date.
As I interpreted it, timwackel had failed in their attempts to force that ancient firmware on to their R7000. Not a good idea, despite having seen it suggested in a possibly dodgy YouTube video.

I'd just like the Netgear router to perform up to specifications... and I'm willing to back date firmware if that's the fix =)

We still don't know what modem its connected to or what wired speeds you get.
Many things can impact wireless speeds but a wired baseline and knowledge of the network its connecting to is key.

Indeed. I remain to be convinced that there is anything wrong with this router.
Did we ever find out what the current firmware is?
Too many unanswered questions.
One way to test the "native" speed of this device is to get it to run its own built-in speedtest. Either run it from the QoS tab in the browser graphical user interface (GUI) or use the mobile app for any iOS or Android device you have.
This does not use the wifi connection. It tests what the router sees wired into the modem and the outside world.
