R7000 SLOWS WAY DOWN with Firmware 1.0.9.10 went back to 1.0.9.6 problem solved. Hold off on update
Just updated the Firmware of my R7000 to the latest 1.0.9.10 from 1.0.9.6 and it cut my download speed from 178MBps on all my devices ( MacBook Pro, iPhone7, iPad Air2) to less than 80MBps. Full pow...

Have you tried the solution in this thread? Link = https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/After-update-the-firmare-the-wifi-speed-is-very-slow-R7000/m-p/1383211#M67726

No I did not try either of those options, “factory reset” or “updating the QoS database”. I will try them both after work today. I know how to update the QoS and I’m cool with that. Question I have now is if I do a factory reset, doesn’t that mean I will lose all my current settings? Such as network names, preferences etc? Spent a lot of time with initial set up t get things just how I like them, not sure if I want to spend all that time agian. Will try the QoS option see what that does. For the record I’m only paying for 150 service. So to be getting 180 wirelessly mean that 1.9.0.6 is working great on the speed front. Only issue I have had with 1.9.0.6 is it drops my Android powered smart tv occasionally. But speed wise it’s great.

Yeah, I would give the QoS option a try before doing a factory resetting too. Also, I have experienced(with Android based devices, but don't know if it is exclusive to those), that after doing a firmware update on the router, deleting the saved wifi profile on the android devices, like your phone and re-discover the wifi network and re-enter the network code, made the wifi connection run better and more stable/reliable.
Let us know what you find out! ;-)

Unfortunately that is one of the painful consequences of a reset. There is no easy way to export the settings in a human friendly format. I use (Alt + Print Screen) grabs.
You could backup the current settings and then restore them after the reset, but you then run the risk of restoring the broken settings.
Still, it is better than buying a new router!

Ok so I put almsot 2 hrs into this and heres the curent status. For whatever reason I was not able to update the QoS datbase until after I did a full factory reset. The option to do so simply wasnt there. I will say though that after the resest I was only able to see the "update" option for the QoS Database when switching the QoS feature on and off. Also I did multiple speed test durign the process both wired and wirelessly on my laptop, phone and tablet. SO When I did the factory reset it did roll the router to an older firmware (forgive me as I cant rember what version it was, but it did instantly update itself to the 1.0.9.10 right away, then I updated the QoS Database. When connected via ethernet cable (laptop only) my speed was consistleny over 170 (im paying for 150), no matter the firmware version or QoS Database. With just the New Firmare after factory reset My laptop was the only one that wirelessly would consistenlty get to 170-175. But iPhone7 and iPad Air2 only got to 90-100. This is an improvement from the initial update. After the QoS update I was now getting a consistent 150-155 on both phone and tablet. Agian this is an improvement. So just as a gee wiz I reloaded 1.0.9.6 and just like that all devices were back gettign consistenly over 175 and up. QoS database is updated. So for now I believe updatign the QoS Database was very helpfull when working with the newest Firmware. But somethiing is still not correct. So will give it some time before I try 1.0.9.10. agian.

Can you guys verify if you have enabled Circle?
If you have it enabled, kindly disable it for the mean time and see if it will work. You may disable it under Parental Controls section.

I did not have "Circle" Enabled.
