R7000 Thru 'admin' interface, can't find a way to change Router's own DNS target. Modem is Bridge
I have my modem in Bridge Mode (transparent, No DHCP, etc.) and feed it to the R7000 (AKA AC1900) router. I want to select a specific DNS such as OpenDNS or others. Using the 'admin' interface, ...

A better description of what you are trying to accomplish with your experiment would be helpful.
Yup. A clearer description of what I was trying to say.
Talk about "a specific DNS such as OpenDNS" is baffling. OpenDNS is a DDNS thing. It is not DNS.
Netgear routers have their own controls for Domain Name Server (DNS) Address. It is on the Internet Setup page. Take your pick of DNS servers.

Sadly, Netgear does have restrictions on DDNS. But I'd expect anyone to check that before they buy.
Fancier stuff may require third party firmware on the R7000, but that is not a topic for discussion here.
Heaven only knows where DHCP enters the picture.

Should not be baffling at all. There are public IP addresses available for Open DNS just like Cloudflare DNS and Next DNS. They have nothing to do with Dynamic Domain Name Servers (DDNS).

Sorry folks. I should not have ever mentioned OpenDNS. I was speaking beyond my knowledge. I don't know anything about DDNS. I happened to use the term when I was talking to what I now realize was a scammer who wanted to know why I would want to change my DNS. It satisfied him and he promted me to allow their tech to connect to my computer to change the DNS for $100. To this I said "Bull" and nothing more, and he hung up on me. Pretty rude for a true Netgear employee or contractor when I used no profanity or other reason for him to hang up.
I appreciate any help I can get from any and all. I'm probably being clumsy at using this Posting technique. I hope I have expressed my desired configuration by now. The DNS device I want to use is connected to my router just like a printer, phone, or TiVo is, and not on the web.

Hmmm.

That was almost certainly neither a Netgear employee nor a contractor. (See above.) You probably called a scam number.

Yes, michaelkenward
Sorry for not explaining that I often use sarcasm. My comment, "Pretty rude for a true Netgear employee or contractor when I used no profanity or other reason for him to hang up", was meant as sarcasm. I guess my including "true" wasn't enough to give the sarcasm away. I am certain it was a scam.
Do you have any comments regarding the DNS designation on "the LAN side of the router versus the WAN side of the router". All I find in the router's admin menu seems to be the WAN side. Am I misunderstanding such a distinction? I don't want my local DNS server's address to fetch something from the World Wide Web. I want the router to look at just my LAN for my DNS server.
All comments are welcome, even if I accidentally bring superfluous ones on myself.

Perhaps, a more suitable venue for your question is over on Small Net Builder Forums: https://www.snbforums.com/
Scroll down to the LAN & WAN section and there is a Routers sub-section. Use the search box for local dns servers and you will find many discussions.
