R7000 V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 and V1.0.7.12_1.2.5 OpenVPN cannot connect
My OpenVPN was working until I installed firmware V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 - unfortunately, I do not know what version I had before that. I tried resolving upgrading to firmware V1.0.7.12_1.2.5, but no succe...

Just one note - someone had taken it that my OpenVPN is now up-and-running, but intermittently. In case anyone else have misunderstood me, let me clarify that this is not the case; rather, the hiccups I encountered was only during the initial Restore-to-Factory post above but have went away (without an explanation).
I am however going to test this new setup over the next week or two, and if all goes well, I will proceed by classifying this thread as "SOLVED". Until then, I will leave it as is.

I updated my laptop's OpenVPN client with the following install file but still cannot successfully connect:
openvpn-install-2.4.0-I602.exe

Have you downloaded and copied to the client directory a new Windows OpenVPN configuration package after updating your router firmware?
My configuration setings are:
TUN Mode Service Type UDP
Tun Mode Service Port 12973
TAP Mode Service Type UDP
TAP Mode Service Port 12974
Clients will use this VPN connection for all sites on the internet & home network.

KitsapYes, originally, when connection failed, through some looking around, I noticed the TAP UDP port changed to 12974 from the previous value of 1194 (which I manually set about a year or two ago). So, I thought it was an easy fix to just download the newly updated (from the firmware update) config files again, to pickup the new port, and any other changes. This did not work, so I manually updated the TAP UDP to 1194 again, redownloaded the Config files and that is where I am at today.
That was a good catch, though!

Where are you testing your VPN connection? From the same WiFi originating from the router that is running the VPN server?
I have never been able to get my VPN connection to establish from home. I always walked across the street with the laptop and used the WiFi from my neighbor.
