r7000not going full speed
i have a modem input speed if 665 Mbps, but I cannot get the switch ports to go wired into my laptop faster than around 80 Mbps. The ports say they are rated at 10/100/1000, so should go ti 1 GB, but not getting that speed.
How do you unlock the full speed of the router?
I tried the firmware update, but they claim that it is current and latest.

to be sure, I am not using wireless, but using the wired switch ports in the back of the unit.

Have you tried using other devices to rule out the laptop as the source of the problem?

Tried how?
The test is unreliable if you used the Nighthawk app or a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI).
They can miss updates, especially when you are a long way behind the latest.
The best way to check is to look at the GUI or the Router Information page in the Nighthawk App and check the firmware version reported there. Then visit the support pages for your device and to look at the library of available updates. There may be a newer version there.

Feed in your model number and look for firmware for your device.
The release notes should also tell you how to manually update the firmware.Or read this:

i find newer FW listed, but when I download it, I get a .chk file and not a .img file. support won't talk to me nor will they do anything about newere firmware.
mine router is at .126 and the latest is .216.
what a mess.

That's right. Netgear uses both extensions. (Heaven only knows why, could be the chipset.)
If you read the manual for the R7000, it has a .chk file for firmware.
mine router is at .126 and the latest is .216.
That should be 1.0.11.126 and 1.0.11.216
You are five versions, and three years, behind the latest.
