My modem and router are all in one. I'm not sure how to do either of those things you mentioned.

The R7450 isn't a modem/router. Its a router-only device.
So its connected to something,what is that?
The manual would be a good place to start with what I recommended.
There's a support site with access to manuals, firmware, install guides, etc.
Go to https://www.netgear.com/support/
Type in your model number and from there it'll take you to the above.
Its a great resource to start with.

I'm reading the manual currently and attempting to log in to the router from routerlogin.net
I don't know what else the router is connected to. I bought the router and that's it. Plugged in the power and ethernet cable and I have internet. My ISP didn't leave any equipment here when they set us up.

Plugged the Ethernet cable into what?
A hole in the wall? A box of some sort?
As plemans says the R7450 is a router. It gets the Internet from somewhere.
