I was able to change the password and it has no problem connecting with that. I have tried rebooting the modem and router after the name change and it still doesn't connect. Not sure that I follow what you did.
Did you use a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI) to change the SSID and password?
Your subject says "change the name". Is that the wifi SSID or the "name" of the router on the network?

Remember, when you are connecting with wifi, the wifi clients are also involved. Have you tried telling them to forget the connection and then setting it up afresh?
