R7500v2 New Firmware v1.0.2.4 (03/25/2016)

There is a new firmware update for the R7500v2 (version v1.0.2.4) that can be applied via the firmware update option via the router’s interface.

However, when notified of the update there are no release notes as to changes/updates in the firmware. In addition, at the time of this posting the firmware is not on the product downloads support page.

What are the release notes or change log for the new firmware?

      Guide

I have installed the new firmware 1.0.2.4 on my two (2) R7500V2, 1 as a router,  1 as a bridge. I wonder why in the world, Netgear releases a new firmware for fix buttons on a page of Block sites that I personally never used, in addition to some obscure issues of log out and security. There are issues of the firmware that I hope, Netgear will address in a future firmware:

      1. better wifi connectivity for fix constant dropping of connections. This will require new drivers from Qualcomm and Atheros (QCA).

      2. support for ReadyCloud

      3. support for a repeater bridge instead of just a bridge which limits the use of the second router.

      4. there is an issue with "resolving host" either with DHCP and/or DNS which seemed to happen quite often.

The hardware on the R7500V2 seems to real good. It's the firmware that needs improvement.

Thank you ElaineM for your help.

You're welcome. Will pass that along to our engineers.

        Have a great day!
