R7540 no internet access after factory reset
Firmware: v1. 2.0.92_1.0.1 Windows 10. After factory reset, router shows connected to internet (white light), but tray icon shows "no internet access". Cannot access internet from wifi or wired conn...
- Oct 11, 2022Thanks! I did all that too. Same issue.
It turns out that two of the ports were bad on the router causing excessive packet loss over 80%. Using a different port fixed everything. The short must have been impacting wifi too because it's all good now.
The ISP tech support has me ping the gateway IP, which exposed the problem. He suggested a new router, but I found that switching ports worked.
Strange that this became an issue at the same time that I did the reset...

What modem do your have your router connected to? Brand name and model number please. Are you sure it is not a combination modem/router gateway?
Many people have found themselves in your spot. The hardware initialization sequence and timing are important to establish a connection.
Power down your modem (pull the power cord), disconnect both the coax cable and the output Ethernet cord.
Power down your router and disconnect the power cord.
Power down your computer. If it is a desktop, disconnect the power cord.
Take a breath, connect the coax cable to your modem and connect the power cord.
Give your modem ample time to boot and to connect to your ISP and stabilize. Look at the LEDs on the front. The internet indicator should be on and solid.
Connect the Ethernet output from your modem to the WAN input on your router.
Connect the power cord and boot up your router. Give it ample time to boot and stabilize. The router indicator showing internet connection should be one of the last indicators to stabilize.
Power on your computer and you should be good to go.

Valley Comm >> PHIHONG switching power supply >> netgear r7450
Did all that. No change. I thought sure that "take a breath" was the fix 🙂

OK Valley Communication is your internet service provider. The modem they provide you is manufactured by someone other than Valley Comm. It most likely has a label with a model number on it. That information would be helpful.
Still trying to figure out what a PHIHONG switching power supply is doing connected between your modem and your router. It is possibly an Ethernet switch? Does it have an Ethernet input and output? Does it have a label with a model number?

Is there a chance your internet service is provided over fiber optics and you have an optical network terminal connected to the fiber optic cable?
