Hi community
My R7800 drops internet connection randomly when I stream IP TV (UDP) from my provider.
I have a 1 Gbit fiber service which normally works perfect.
When I watch a HD TV stream...

That seems to be the fix for a lot of folks, myself included after fighting a r8000 and r8000p I got the Asus rt-ac86u and it just ran with Merlin firmware. Did recently find r7800 cheap on Ebay and decided to give it a try as friend says runs good for him Running Voxel firmware and the r7800 is running well for me. I do not do VPN or NAS support, just router/Ethernet/wireless support. Slower on my simple wireless iperf test then the ac86u and I like the additional client info I can get from the ac86u.
If I could have only one it would be the Asus rt-ac86u. Sorry Netgear, but you just do not have it right now, especially with same bugs dragging on for months.

Hardware wise on the WiFi side the R7800 is superior to the 86 in my testing like most reviews thanks to the QCA9984 chipset and it has working HT160 and MU unlike the Broadcom based 86U but unfortunately the R7800 still has nagging bugs, at least the WiFi is stable for me and HT160 is great with my 9260ac. Asus’s R7800 equivalent (828U) apparently is even more buggy and the only one with the same hardware that has a good UI and properly managed firmware is the RT2600AC from Synology.

Am sure part of the difference between your test and mine is the environment. Do agree about what the Asus equivalent as being buggy. I agree that the wireless and Internet is solid so far using the r7800. Have teen who is constantly streaming something so I would know if issues. Have, in the past, had that dreaded question is the Internet down? But that was in my foolish Linksys WRT3200ACM days.
