Connections to the drives fail on MacOS, IOS, Android and Windows platforms. I connect to the router, update the admin password to the same value and I am subsequently able to connect to the drives from all devices.
I do not have to update any configurations other than the admin password to restore connectivity. I recall reading some time ago that it was necessary to update the admin password after adding a new drive and securing it with the admin password. It seems like ReadyShare configuration reverts to this initial state periodically. When it first happened, I updated with a new password and changed the connection credentials on all my devices until I realized I can just update the password to itself to resolve the issue. Still very annoying when it happens.

Do you really need to password protect the USB drives? I don't.

Appreciate the response. I will consider your suggestion..
Since support for my router has expired, I posted here in to get confirmation that this behavior was a bug and was being addressed.

Could be no on both counts.
As I said, I don't see this behaviour, and it hasn't been a constant complaint. So if it is a bug it is limited in who it hits.
And it is an old router – several generations behind modern technology – so don't expect to see bug fixes, especially rare ones. It may get the occasional security update, but that's the extent of the support.

Thanks for your insights. Problem is intermittent so I’m not quite annoyed enough yet to invest in a new router 😉

Something to try out, go look up some Voxel 3rd party FW for the R7800. He does some good extended FW support for 3rd party FW for the R7800. Might find better experiences with his stuff loaded. He's over on SmallNetBuilders forum.

Good info. Thanks.
Alas, the risk of me screwing up the router vs the benefit of resolving this intermittent annoyance is too high for me 😉
