How is the R7800 connected to the cable modem?
What gives you the offline error message? A mobile app?
What do you see in a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI)?

The modem is connected to the router via the Ethernet cable.

It is more like something from an operating system or software. Maybe even a browser? According to Google, those words seem to afflict just about everything in IT land.
Which browser did you use? Do you have an alternative that you can try?
You say that you have just moved things around physically, but sometimes something goes amiss and you have to reset the while network, including the router.
- Elmer157Nov 30, 2023TutorMoved everything back to original location. Same error messages. I use my iPad and iPhone w same connectivity issues. I use safari. I have no connection issues at work just home. Similar issues with my smart tvs. Cannot connect to the internet. Xfinity is my internet provider. Beginning to wonder if the router is bad. Hope not. I’m convinced that the solution is right there.

Apple is the devil's plaything.

Netgear also warns about Safari as not being any good for some operations.
Is that how you are trying to set up the router?
You said earlier:
I know the modem is working,as all the lights are up and running. The R7800 are flashing white as in the past. 2.4 and 5 g both flashing.
Which LEDs are flashing white? "Up and running" does not tell us much. The thing clearly isn't.
If it is the power LED that is not as designed. A flashing LED suggests corrupt firmware.
Beginning to wonder if the router is bad. Hope not. I’m convinced that the solution is right there.I wouldn't jump to the conclusion yet, especially if you are relying on Apple's technology to set things up. Can you elaborate a bit more on how you are going about that?
You never did reply to the question about accessing this with the GUI. While a wired connection is the preferred option, you can also get in there with a wifi and a browser on a mobile device.
