R7960P - "Respond to Ping on Internet" option selected and grayed out
Netgear Nighthawk X6S, model R7960P. Purchased at Costco. Running Firmware version V1.4.2.84_1.3.42. On the "WAN Setup" Page, the "Respond to Ping on internet" option is checked, but grayed out - so ...
Update: I upgraded to the latest firmware (V1.4.4.94_1.3.56), and that has resolved the issue. I can now uncheck that option. Thanks!

After the firmware update router was reset and reconfigured. Not using the IP addresses you mentioned as not permitted in this environment, and I do not see how the IP range could make a difference. Router functions fine, just that one option cannot be turned off.
So after the reset and setup from scratch, you can't turn that option off or disable it?
What browser are you using? Try MS Edge or Firefox?
Try a reset on the router with the router disconnected from the ISP modem...
