I have now tried downloading the file and thru the interface doing the update connected directly to the router from my PC. I see it progressing and see the reboot take place but it still reports needing the same update. I have tried multiple times.
You are skipping over 6 updates. You might need to install one of two incremental updates in between.
When you say "connected directly" do you mean via Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable?
What web browser are you using? Did you try a different one?
Have you cleared the cache on the web browser you are using?
How did your router "reports needing an update"? Did you check the update server or compare the firmware version numbers?
What is the modem/gateway/ONT (Optical Network Terminal) connected upstream of your router? Brand and model number please.
Have you restarted your network in sequence? Power down your modem/gateway/ONT and pull the power cord. Disconnect the Ethernet cord to the router. Power down your router pull the power cord. Power down your computer.
To start up the network, power up the modem and give it plenty of time to boot and stabilize. One of the last indicators to illuminate should be the internet connection. Log in to the user interface and check the firmware version number.
