R8000 GUI does not let you save password
When I access the router web pages from my laptop it right away brings me to a change admin password page. I fill the form out, and there is no save button, but if I go to second password field, and ...
Are you meeting all the minimum requirements?
If not, it'll keep asking you to change it.

at least one special character, one number, one upper case, one lower case
YES! all the boxes are checked. And the new password (done on Mac) works. But it then takes me to the change password screen and I cannot get to the admin GUI.
What FW is loaded?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? Walk thru the setup wizard and write down important information for safe keeping?
