R8000 Not Receiving VPN Connection

I have the R8000 Nighthawk router and after an update, it is no longer connecting to my VPN. The router does connect to WiFi just fine. I have ran a factory restart and the VPN connection is not working. I have tired connecting to the VPN in other locations using other routers and it does work. It seems the problem might be my router. What do I need to check for?

    Which VPN?

     

    Update what? Firmware? Which version?

     

    Does it mend the VPN if you reinstall the previous version?

     

    What do I need to check for? 

    Start with the settings that your VPN provider suggests.
