R8000P Internet Port Stopped Working

I use a CM1000V2 modem and a EAX20 extender. The internet port just stopped working. I've tested the cable by running it form back of the modem to my lap top and internet works so it's not hte cable nor modem. The internet LED won't light up and we are getting no wifi. So the port somehow has stopped working. I've tried the power cycles of 2 minutes disconnected on both the modem and router and done them separately. Everything else on the router seems to work. It's still trying to push out wifi but obviously there is no internet. 

If the port is somehow physically bad then is there a way to connect ethernet in some other way? I read suggestions about resetting the modem but trying to avoid that unless it's necessary. Also, not sure how a hardware issue would be fixed by a reset but open to whatever works. And if reset is the only option and I have to have wired connection to ethernet how do you connect to the router since my ethernet port on the lap top will be used up? Via USB?
