R8000P Slow Speeds Wifi
I recently upgraded from a R7000 router since the 5ghz band kept going offline after having it work perfectly for a few years. I bought the R8000P since it seemed like the range was better for our si...
- May 03, 2022I did the chat support on my phone and they were able to solve my issue. They had me change the channels for each of the 2.4ghz,5ghz1, and 5ghz2.
2.4 - channel 11
5-1 - channel 48
5-2 - channel 161
This seemed to completely solve my slow speed issue. Thanks again for the replies.

A couple things.
1. what firmware is on the router?
2. what modem/gateway is it connected to?
3. the R8000P is a triband router with smart connect. meaning devices can switch between the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz band. 2.4ghz is a much slower band and suffers from more interference. If you're using smart connect, check which band you're on. If you disable it, make sure you're devices are on the 5ghz for faster speeds.

Firmware - V1.4.3.88
Modem - E31T2V1
I have smart connect turned off. On all bands I am getting a slow 60-70.

Try making sure qos, access control, traffic monitoring, and parental controls are disabled and reboot the router.
What device are you testing on?
Have you tried several devices?

I've tried with my phone and a laptop for speedtest which came out around the same on wifi. When I run the speedtest through the nighthawk iphone app it shows the router is getting 228mbps speed to it. I have traffic monitoring and parental controls off. Where can I go to turn off Access control and QOS?
