R8000P with ISP Static IP
Greetings! I am struggling to get my router working on my home network. I am trying to connect to an Arris modem and my ISP has given me a static IP. I currently use an old Apple Airport Ext...

Looks like it is solved.
I reset the router and let the "genie" do the setup. It saw the static IP and prompted me for the IP, subnet, gateway, and DNS. Once entered it sprang to life.
Thanks to everyone who chimed it!!!

Many of the other folks around here don't know/understand much about
that sort of configuration, either.

So, that's a block of four, of which you can use one?
In a block that small (with only one usable address for you), I
wouldn't expect many complications (which I would for a larger block).
It does limit you to connecting only one device (computer, router, ...)
(at a time) to the DG1670, but that's normal.

Probably not critical. I'd guess some arrangement like:
24.227.W.xy2 (reserved)
24.227.W.xy3 gateway
24.227.W.xy4 usable
24.227.W.xy5 (reserved)
where "x" could be { 0, 1, 2 }, and "y" could be { 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 }. (If
that's wrong, then a private message with complete addresses might be
helpful (to me).)
In such a case, I'd expect that a static WAN/Internet configuration
on the R8000P like the following would work:
IP address 24.227.W.xy4
Gateway 24.227.W.xy3
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.252
(And the DNS server addresses, too, of course.)
If that sort of static configuration works for your Mac and/or your
Airport Extreme, then I'd expect it to work for an R8000P, too.
Put any client device (Mac or whatever) back to using DHCP, and
restart it after the router/device swap.
> Also, Nighthawk does not recognize the internet, [...]
What is "Nighthawk"? The R8000P, or some app, or what? What,
exactly, does "recognize the internet" mean to you? As usual, showing
actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.
> [...] yet the internet LED on the machine is white [...]
"the machine" is the R8000P?
> [...] whereas the home screen in the "Netgear Genie" progam says the

What, exactly, is your "the "Netgear Genie" program"? Are you using
a web browser to talk to the R8000P, or what?
I don't know exactly how these things decide to declare "Internet
Connected", and this is an atypical configuration, so I wouldn't bet
much on the validity of the various "Internet" indicators.
