R8500 DHCP and Attached devices
This question would also apply to the R7500v1 (latest firmware)
On the R8500-V1.0.2.136_1.0.99
What is the reason if any to enter all the device names twice? Once when setting up DHCP the needed Name, MAC and IP are entered. But when you look at attached devices or turn on QOS some devices show their embeded hostname, some something else and others are blank or just have -- (two dashes) in thei name.
If they all came up with the devices embeded hostname i could see some reasoning but why not prepopulate DHCP with the name and MAC or vise versa.
In my case to avoid a bunch of changes I update DHCP before I attach the devices. Device are named with reference to what and where they are located.
Why the need to maintain 2 databases of device names. Isnt it confusing and unnecessary?
Am i going about this incorrectly?
