R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.2.126
Just noticed R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.2.126.
As in my last inquiry on this forum
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R8500-Firmware-Version-1-0-2-122/m-p/1589213
I am not seeing any information. I am reasonably happy with current 1.0.2.116 and after
reading few discouraging replies opted for not updating to 1.0.2.122 Firmware.
Now the Firmware Version 1.0.2.126
this Firmware appears to have some enhancements worth looking at IMHO, albeit just on paper.

Although the link gives a new firmware v.1-0-2-26 if I check the firmware update via router it still shows only v. 1.0.2.122
So my Question is, any brave soles out there tried this one? As I said in my last post, I will be busy till at least end of September and do not have time to deal with bricked router. However should the chances of success be evident I may give it a go.
Cheers to all.
Firmware 1.0.2.26 is one of the oldest around and is almost certainly well past its sell by date.
It is dated 11/28/2016, which means 28-11-2016 in the real world, so coming up to its second birthday in November.
There have been 10 updates since then.
The latest firmware is here:
R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.2.122 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Dated 06/14/2018 (14-06-2018 in real money), it contains changes that are very important to some people, Added support for SHA256 certificates in lieu of MD5 for OpenVPN.
It is a piece of cake to try new firmware:
- Create backup of current settings
- Apply new firmware
If you have problems and don't want to factory reset the router – the first thing to try – simply roll back to the firmware version you had before the latest. Then restore the settings, just in case the update messed up something.

Where do you see the .226 firmware version?

My bad. It should read R8500 Firmware Version 1.0.2.26
Link still applies, unless I am overlooking something.
