R8500 Wireless capped at 100
Hi All,
I have a 1 gig internet connect with FIOs. My network is setup with a FIOs quantum gateway, a R8500 (Nighthawk X8 AC5300) in AP mode and a EX7000 (AC1900 Nighthawk WiFi Range Extender). The EX7000 is in my office and connected via ethernet cat 5e to my dell XPS computer. The R8500 has a Drobo 5N connected to it. For years the transfer speed between my PC (into ex7000 over to r8500 out to drobo) and Drobo was around 60MB/s (or in task manager 500 Mbps)& rock solid (either upload or download. Then a year ago the firmware changed and I was capped at 10MB/s (in task man 100Mbps). I did a refresh on the R8500 at the time to no avail. I did not downgrade the firmware and since then both devices have had 1-2 new firmware versions.
Two weeks ago I went into the R8500 settings to check and enabled MU-MIMO which somehow was off. Then it worked speed wise for 1-3 days and then reverted back to 100 cap until I rebooted tr8500 & EX7000. I replaced my quantum gateway today and still have the same behaviors. I also replaced the Cat5E between Drobo & R8500.
Anyone see this behavior before? Any suggestions?
Thank,
daniel
Hi All,
I am embarrassed to say it turns out my dedicated ethernet cat 6 cable from PC to router, BTW which is rarely ever touched, went bad! So the 1gig dropped to under 100meg. I replaced it and it works much better. I am getting 290 down & 100 up which still needs some work to get faster but at least I am past this hurdle.Best Regards,

Update:
I did a comeplete refresh of both the R8500 and EX7000 with then manually configured them. Behaviour remains the same. It works at the proper speeds for 3-24 hours and then the speed is capped at 100.
So I have an update. I upgraded my FIOs router and used it for the home point of the EX7000 (wireless extender). The speed is still capped at 100Mbps.
