It shouldn't have taken two weeks for bugs to kick in, but the router may not be the only thing to troubleshoot. You never know what may be going on at the ISP end that is causing "network rot" at your end.
In effect, your wonderful ISP has given you a shiny new Internet service. That means that, if you haven't done so already, you may need to nuke the settings on your R8500 and introduce it to the new Internet. (A slightly less severe approach is to run the router through the Internet setup wizard.)
Then there is this stuff:
Modem talking fine fine back to server router leds showing everything good, the wifi devices showing connection to router but no internet. We thought it was the modem.Bypassing the router the modem direct connect to lap or desk it works great.
Again, new Internet service. It isn't obvious what is and isn't connecting to what there, but if you have a Windows PC anywhere in the mix it may be doing its thing to protect you from nasties. It can do that by blocking you from the Internet.
One thought is that you could tell Windows that you are on a "private network".
- Network and Internet settings
- Network Status
- Change Connection Properties
- Network Profile
- Private
I'm told that this is rubbish advice. But it has worked for me and others in the same boat.
