About a week or two ago I saw there was an security update for my router. It had done a bigger update automatically maybe a month ago but this last one just ruined my network speeds. Firmware V1....

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What devices are you using to speed test with?
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

The long power down helped, I was too impatient originally. Back to 500mbos up/down. Really glad I don't need to wipe and redo all the rules/reservations/etc. Thank you!!

If it happens again, would be good to know what ISP modem you have.
Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Its a AT&T branded 5268AC Gateway. I don't have it set up to bridge because it never seemed to work. Also never figured out plugging the fiber directly into the R9000.

Ya those don't bridge well or at all.
Try using the modems DMZ or IP pass thru for the R9000 router. This will help with the double NAT issue and probably speed issues. Then you'll be fine.
